Have we come to the conclusion that the air gap intake is a dud?

Lot's of mixed opinions, nothing showing any real gains. I'm not cutting the product or the quality of the product. I just don't know if I should be happy that we have such a good factory intake or upset that the aftermarket can't improve on it. I guess it's good for an LT4 alternative but that's the only use I can justify at this point. I guess a good question would be how does a super vic setup affect even a mild setup? Does it totally kill it or what? I know, I know, some of you are gonna say that a mildly modded LT1 doesn't need it. That's not my question or the reason for the post. Question is what will the affect be even on a mild modded LT1, let's say cam only with all the bolt on goodies. What will the super vic setup do for it?

Lloyd Elliot said the Edels porting is the same size stock (with room to port more) as his port jobs on stock LT1 intakes. He also said the runners are just a HAIR longer, and are less restrictive inside the plenum.
I REALLY doubt the plenum size is smaller.
Also I think the port holes are 58mm right off the bat.
The benefit of having this intake is that it's not getting so much heat from the engine, or hot oil splashed on the bottom.
We haven't seen but 1 dyno, and it was between two different dyno brands, so you have to toss that out the window.
So basically, there's no verdict yet :\

Edel made an lt1 intake back when the lt first came about (non air-gap) but stoped. I think it just did't sell. As this wont except as an alternitive to the now discontinued lt4. I would buy one for the air gap but at a resonable price like 180 or so. Now a great market would be to make this ready to drop on a gen 1, with the h2o and distributer hole, and keeping it emissions legal and cheap, TPI replacement.

I have yet to see any gains worth the cost. Still looking and will be sending one to Lloyd for porting. Once done will do back to back pulls in a windtunnel to keep everything equal as possible.

I've had my Edelbrock Ported LT4 intake from Lloyd for several weeks now setting in my garage. 1 word AWSOME, he opened if for my monoblade setup and took a lot of material especially behind the TB out. I have been lazy lately, computer crashed, and I started college back. I'll try to post picks soon.
A ported Edelbrock will perform better than a ported Stocker thats for sure. I've had a Fully ported GTP LT4 intake opened for a monoblade and now this one. After looking at several pics between the two, the Edelbrock looks like it will flow a lot better, The most obvious difference is the material around the TB.

I've heard some of this too. I also thought that there would have to be some advantage in the intake due to things listed here. We just need some hard proof.
