both cams are good cam, and people make great power with both. i chose the 847 because its bigger than the 306. i put down 382 rwhp through a stalled slipping auto that broke the same day i dynoed. its still on stock tb/ stock injectors, and its blowing out the spark in the upper rpms due to the stock ignition i think. im also on unported intake. anyways there is still lots of power to be had out of my set up. if you do a setup somewhat similar to mine, hey, its proven. also i ran a best of 12.2 @ 110, but then yet again ive been having issues there too. shitty track prep, spinning on slicks, and i believe my stall converter isnt stalled high enough. so im going to send it back and get it restalled to 4000. im nothing but happy with my set up and if you want proven power go the route i went.

So if you corrected your ignition problems, restalled your TC, upgraded to a 52mm TB, or maybe a 58mm TB (but I think that is too much) and ran 30# inj. do you think you qould be at the 400rwhp mark? I know LT-1's are not dyno queens and they can lay down some decent E.T's with minimal effort but this is gion into a 1/2 ton truck so I need all I can get without having to bore and stroke this motor. If I have to bore this motor to clean it up that is fine. I just dont like to bore and stroke just because it is an easy way out to make power. I also really dont like nitrous. I believe that is for people that dont know how to put together an engine package that works. Wow, that last statement will probably irk some bottle babies here. LOL

I do believe id be hitting 400 rwhp door if i did those mods. and yea i think a 58mm is a wise choice in this case. one thing you have to remember about the 847 cam is it makes awsome power, but my peak power was at 6800 rpms. So you have to make sure that bottom end is in decent shape to handle the revs, and even then you will be playin with fire. As far as the nitrous comment, i dont believe that. Its a power adder just like a supercharger or turbo. I put down 382 rwhp, throw 100-125 shot on it then its 500 roughly. You can only do so much to these cars, and it gets real expensive if you try and hit 500 rwhp n/a. a power adder is a must if you wana fly.

DAMN 6800?, will a stock 2 bolt hold up with those rpms? Supercharger and turbo(s) are a constant power adder. As long as the engine is alive then so is the S/C, turbo(s). What happens when the bottle goes empty? I will admit that nitrous is cheaper than the mods needed for a S/C, turbo(s), but you have these young punks that buy a car (or their parents give them one) and they slap a kit on it and think they have something. I guess it dont matter how you make power just as long as you are diong it. I dont want to **** anyone off here. I like the advice and help.

well like i said you will be playin with fire with the revs. a friend of mine spun his motor to 6900 for a year and a half before it blew. i have mine set kinda conservitive and am shiting at 6400 so i dont mess anything up. ive been tempted to add nitrous to my car, but its fast the way it is, and i like driving it. i dont want to take the chance of messing anything up right now. your statement saying that turbo and supercharger are always there which is true, but it takes time to build boost. with nitrous its just there. if i had the money my car would be a turbo 396 though lol but you are right, power is power, and im not going to mess with the person making more than me. keep me updated on what you do decide.
