Default MSD opti?

Well my opti finally **** out on me when i did the headers. I changed the wires to msd 8.5s and i think i disturbed something in the optispark.

so i did some research here and it seems like the MSD optispark and msd ignition coil is the best on the market correct? I hope so because i just ordered both from summit (waterpump as well).

Did i make the right move here? I don't see too many choices for optis to begin with. I found a Delco, Accel and then the MSD.

Well "best" is kind of subjective but yes the msd should work very well for you.

Between those choices the only real mistake you could have made is the accel one.

My only suggestion is to call MSD and ask for the new square O-ring and use some red loctite on the rotor screws as their known to back out. The old round style O-ring will come with your MSD opti and they have been known to roll off the lip of the housing causing rubbing of the rotor on the housing. I just recently installed my MSD opti, MSD coil, and Taylor OTVC wires. I absolutely love it!

After doing some research I came to the conclusion that the Delteq and LTCC mod only helps you if you are spinning the motor past 6500 or so. Otherwise, MSD or GM should do u fine. The Dynaspark is my choice as far as the best option available due to the sealed connector and "bulletproof" internals. I will be putting one in mine soon, bcuz I think mine has some moisture trapped inside.

You need to keep doing more research, the MSD is proving fairly troublesome compare too a stocker.

The MSD has worked fine for a lot of people.

There were some issues with the first batch of units, but they've mostly been corrected.

I also wanted the Dynaspark but they have been on backorder since May! I think they are still on backorder too. And its not because they have sold so many, its because they are redesigning it. I don't know why they would change a proven product but its their choice.
