Exactly. And not only that, but if I remember correctly it was LEFT to you after he passed away...

A head gasket blown doesn't equal motor death! I assume this is the same brilliant uncle that told you about the fan clutch being bad on your car? Or something like that.

You really should repair it. Its really not to hard of a fix and can even walk you thru it. If you where closer to Mi would even do it for you.

Well she's totally right on that. If you're not willing to spend money its kinda hard to own these cars.

Default Not to be a jerk about it...

...but you got plenty advice in your previous thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...1&page=1&pp=20

Forums are helpful IF you listen to GOOD advice listed in them. For example, folks said several times that you won't necessarily have water in your oil if the gasket is bad. Like I said in your thread, a simple $50 coolant check would have saved you a lot of time and grief.

Now that you think you know what the problem is, do you REALLY know if you have bad head gaskets or are you just guessing again? Again, not to be a jerk, but if you're following unc's advice, I'd get a second opinion. For example, your uncle is WRONG that the engine is absolutely toast if the head gaskets are bad. You can have a good shop replace your head gaskets in a couple of days for less than $1500, and that includes labor, resurfacing and parts. I think that's a lot cheaper than most decent used cars, and if you do it yourself, it's a lot less. Now if you've got a bunch of water in the pan, that's a different problem and the engine is probably beyond hope.

BTW, you AIN'T going to get a good NEW engine for $1000, and I wouldn't recommend getting a used one 'cause you're going to be looking at the same problems.
