gears?
gears? was up guys, i'm a newbie to the lt1 so i need some questions answered, i just bought my Z28 a month ago and i have noticed that at 75mph my rpms are at 2500. isn't this a little high or is this normal these cars?
no he didn't and it's an a4, my friend checked the rpo codes and he said it was equipped with a 342, but i still think that's to high because i have 4.11 in my truck and it does the same rpm's at the same speed
Tell your friend to recheck his work. A4s only came with either 2.73 or 3.23. M6s came with 3.42. If the RPO code does say 3.42, have him check the RPO code for the transmission. A possibility exists that it could have been an M6 from the factory.

at 78 mph your car will be at 2300 rpms, roughly.... and thats with 3:23 gears. so your just fine.

80mph At 80 Mph your tach ahould read no more than 2100 rpm in 4th(overdrive)
Even a worn tranny should pull no more than 2300
Good luck, Maybe you tach is off...or your speedo
If that isn't the cae hmm start to consider maybe a different from stock rearend or a M6 to A4 swap maybe it was the M6 like he said earlier.

not so sure about that...not saying your wrong but for some reason that just doesnt seem right...2100 is awfully low for 80 miles an hour in OD..he sounds about right for the gear and speed...I did about 2500 at 70ish when it was stock..Im around 3000 at 80 mph with a 3200 stall..and dont forget that our guages arent the most accurate...my buddies m6 with 4.10s did 2100 at 70 mph
