Default idle at startup

My idle at startup is horrible. It will go as high as 2k and 2.5k rpm for about 10-15 seconds and slowly drop down to normal idle (for my car its always been a little high) about 1200 rpm. Anyone know what could cause this?

isn't the 58mm throttle body overkill for ur setup? or do u plan on going with a big cam soon, from what i have read on here, a simple 52mm can handle over 400hp...sorry for the thread highjack, just curious, good lookin car though...

clean your idle air control valve and see what it does.

just an idea, check your connector to the idle air control valve also. i had the connector off mine when doing the tb bypass and it got water in it. when i put everything back together it ran, but the idle was screwed up. same symptoms as you. blew it out with an air line and worked fine. probably not your problem but just an idea

check your IAC... it could be worn out... what is is suppose to do is when you start your car, it opens up all the way then closes instantly which will make your car idle normal... if it is worn out a little but, that could explain why it takes so long for the idle to come down... because my car idles at 2k because the IAC is stuck halfway...

How much is a new iac? or is it just easier to clean it out? Do they really get dirty or something?
