There's a big difference b/w a well respected mechanic and someone who really knows what they're doing when it comes to porting heads.

Still way too vague. Most people who post up results of locally ported heads are putting down #'s on par with cam only cars. If your friend wants proven heads that made 405rwhp and trapped 118mph in a full weight car tell him to click the link in my sig.

With the lack of details you're providing you might as well purchase or have your friend purchase some decent technical software rather than just trying to get numerous opinions on what people "think" his numbers will be.

On average with decently ported heads I've seen anywhere from 30-40rwhp gains. When you add a good intake Vs. the stock lt1 & a decent throttle body you could potentially add another 15rwhp.

The hotcam is a mild cam but some have had great results on the track Vs. dyno numbers, IMO track times are more important. With a GM847, stock bottom, full boltons & stock heads with 1.7rrs I put down 375rwhp netting me a humble low 12 1/4mi pass. Just goes to show you a simple cam profile Vs. head work can make a big difference.

What was the question again?.?.? Are we fighting a DynoDragon or just a simple DragStrip for real numbers? It makes a difference....

I made 405rwhp with those heads, but i'de expect 10-20rwhp less with the hotcam over my cam. I also had all the supporting mods except an electric waterpump.
