I guess I should just pull a wire off, pull the plug and check it's condition, gap, and brand. If it's a R43 like most of the TBI motors we saw in the junkyard yesterday, then I'll go get some NGKs. I have a 25% off coupon to a local parts store. So I figure sway bar links and spark plugs.

EDIT: From the store's online site.

NGK Spark Plug: Plug No. TR55
V-Power Spark Plug: Per Car Quantity 8; Gap 0.044"

So, do I listen to the manufacturer, or the guru? :\ They're 1.98/ea too, which is nice. That same site also listed 605s.

I don't think the difference between .044" and .050" is gonna be a deal breaker. Personally I fouled NGK's much easier than Autolites. After going through about 3 sets of NGK's, I switched. I had one set of Autolites, pulled the motor out so I put in another set while it was out (plus we just broke off some of the plugs to get the headers out).

But you run A) an LS1 and B) a NOS 396 motor. Mines just stock besides being chipped (no 58mm atm, still have to port intake)

EDIT: Well, I have some good news, and some bad news. I pulled a plug. The good news is, it's running perfect. The bad news is, I'm running Splitfires SF 10E6. E6 makes me think of what heatrange it's running.

As long as the heat range is correct, I don't think .006" is gonna hurt anything. GM says gap them at .050" so I would do that. I would however not buy anymore Splitfires. Too $$$.

Well from my understanding, Shitfires sucked anyways. But at least they're running clean. I don't have a feeler gauge or a gap ring, or else I'd have checked it's gap, but it didn't look too bad. I'd say .045-.055, with in range, never the less.

$25 to do it right. You really don't have twenty-five dollars for the correct plugs?

$1.98 x 8 = $15.84

When I started this thread, no, I had no money. My friend finally paid me some of what he owes me, so I got some TR55s and energy front sway bar kit ($15, can't beat that). Plus I had 25% off coupon, which brought it all down even more.
