Default Delco R44TS, fine for a DD?

Mods (minus the 58mm, I still haven't gotten around to that), are in my sig. I just did the filter and my car really woke up, so I'm itching to do the plugs. I already own a set of the aforementioned and don't plan to buy any. So the question stands, other than a plug being basically a plug, are there any missing problems people have heard about? And what gap should I go with on my 90% stock car? .035?

I have a bit of pre-ig up in the higher Rs, most right before/when it shifts gears, and I'm just hoping that it's due to really old plugs, other than some other things (tune, other parts, what have you). I know it's not knock, since my sensor reads 0 all the times I've peaked at its reading. Which, it could be dead, I'm not sure, save from going out and tapping it with a hammer while it's idling and the scanner is next to me lol

Wow, off topic.

Suggestions, speculations, pls?

No. R44TS is just a standard Delco plug.

And Red, I'm knowledgeable but not all knowing lol. I ask, because I believe I originally got these for a 90 Suburban TBI heh

Also, just checked a parts store's online site, and it's saying gap @ .050 (.060 for Plat). So what should a DD, with my limited mods, run for a gap?

Should be just fine as long as its the correct heat range.

Except I don't remember how Delco runs for heat range. Higher number hotter, or cooler. So these could be mid-range either way you look at it.

I ran a cross reference on the plug and it says an NGK equivalent is UR4 but everyone knows you use TR55 (stock heat range). I wouldn't use 'em.

I would stick with the tr55 @ .050 IMO...stick with what works, then you wouldn't have to spend alot of extra time changing them again if for some reason they do not work...for whatever reason. (performance...reach...tapper...heat range ect). just my .02

Those are the same plugs that came in my 85 Monte Carlo SS. I don't know if they'd work or not.

For AC plugs, the higher the number the hotter it is.

So I'd assume they'd be fine, if I just gapped them @ 50, wouldn't it? Isn't larger gap weaker spark?

Dude, go to Wal-Mart and buy some Autolite 106 plugs for about a total of less than $10. Anyone can afford that.

Yea, but do they run good. I don't want performance LOSS heh. I know my plugs are old, and that I am not getting my full potential anyways, but still, I'd like to get as much as I can and I know Delcos are good.

The Autolite 106's will do you fine. I don't think you can have a performance loss just from switching brands with all else constant.

Well, this recommends a differen't Autolite P#

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....21&postcount=1

My recolection from working at a parts store, was that the heat range on Delco plugs was also one number higher than their part number. So 44TS = heat range 5. Which, is what it recommends above.

Well when you cross TR55 on the Autolite website, it kicks out 605 so go figure.

That thread also says that different manufacturers use different standards so I guess that's why they don't cross back.
