Default Best Shorty headers

What are the best shoty headers to get?BBK, Pacesetter,ect..ceramic coated. Not going to run long tubes so dont bother saying I should run them. Also, will the y pipe connect right to the exhaust intermedent pipe or do I need a piece of pip to wed in or a cat?

I've had my BBK shorties on for almost 4 years now. The ceramic coating still looks good, and they came with the y pipe. Not sure as to how they would connect to your current exhaust system, at the time I did mine I had the cat deleted.

Don't know if plug changes are easier with another brand, its a pain in the *** with the bbk shorties though.

You might also think about a set of midlength headers. They can go on a normal y pipe and everything just like shortys and are every bit as legal. They're just a bit different of a design and make more power. very nice compromise between shortys and LTs. Pacesetter and Mac are pretty popular companies to get them from.

The thing with headers, is they're so bloody expensive if get them new I'd love a set of shorty/mids, but they're all $400 and up.

I got them on here from a guy. Great shape, few little scuffs but no big deal. Saved $300 on them too!

I am not sure if the mids bolt right up with no modification. I am selling my SS coated SLP shorties soon,($325) since my motor is blown and down for the moment. They are for 96-97 dual cat, and use factory y pipe.

As far as I know they do. you might need the y-pipe to go with them (not 100% sure), but I know they don't move the cats farther back or anything like LTs do even though most of us don't even run cats.

I've got a rare set of Borla 304 stainless steel midlength headers and stainless Y-pipe with a Magnaflow high flow cat welded onto it that I'm probably going to be putting up for sale here in a few weeks. It'll all bolt right up to a stock or aftermarket catback system. I have converted them to "race" headers as the AIR bungs have been welded shut and shaved off smooth. The reason for the delay in availability is because I'm still in the process of show polishing the whole setup, but it'll all look like chrome when I'm done.

I bought a set of BBK ceramic coated from a friend for 150$. I was happy with them, the plug change werent as fun as the stock manifolds. It really wasnt that bad to me, allot of people dont use a 5/8 wrench that is angled and dropped. That little wrench makes life easy on my when it comes to changing a couple of plugs on 82-97 f cars with headers.

what is your reasoning for not running a set of long tubes?

now a days, LT's are can be had for the same price as a set of shorties, and yield a better increase in power as well.

and every shorty header I've seen hasn't been worth a sh*t when it comes to plug changes!
