Angry replaced opti big problems need help

i have a 1997 Z28 lt1. i took off from the light driving the other day and my car stalled and back fired. would crank but not start. so we rebuilt opti, replaced fuel filter, all seals and gaskets. Made sure timing chain was good(not off timing) but when i start my car it will start but very very sluggish. revs slowly, almost dies when you nail it, also back fires on way back down through rpms. keep getting cam pos sensor code,so we cleaned made sure it was lined up right and still having problems, do i need a new opti spark or what. already double and triple checked plug wires to make sure they were correct and they are. Only mods are headers, and hypertech power programmer, and over and underdrive pullies someone please help. Already took power programming off and still same problem. I NEED HELP

Which or where did you buy the opti? I'm on my third one since April when I bought the car. So far the NAPA one was crap, the two cheapo "just like AC/Delco" ones from eBay were crap, and I'm hoping the stock AC/Delco one works out, and so far it's running fine.

A lot of people in various forums say the Accel is crap and the MSD is hit or miss. The general consensus is that the best way to go it the real AC/Delco opti.

Have you removed your plugs and inspected them?

Well since you put only cap and rotor on it and you are getting what sounds like DTC 16 lo res failure (at least that's what it is on OBD1, not sure for OBD2)...... looks like you need a whole new opti. Go to the dealer or call Sam Taylor in FL.

yes it does turn on a check engine light but it gives a code for a cam pos sensor. but every body that i talk to says car souldnt run as bad as it does just because of a cam sensor
