Default Alternating Roller Rocker Ratios

Has anyone tried installing alternating roller rockers with 2 different ratios on their LT1? Meaning like

1.6s on intake and 1.5s on exhaust or
1.5s on intake and 1.6s on exhaust or
1.7s on intake and 1.6s on exhaust or
1.6s on intake and 1.7s on exhaust

Well, you get the idea. If anyone has tried this please post gains or loses in power, ET, etc. Thanks

Used to back in the older days on the BBC's. Good power could be made by opening up the exhaust more than the intake. Obviously what modifications have been done determine what makes good power. Sorry, can't tell you on this specific engine.

I guess I'm gonna be the test mule then. I kinda wish I could use a dyno and test the results, but I'll rely on the track. ET>dyno #s.

I had 1.5 intake 1.6 exhaust on my 91z. I bought it like that though. Not sure if it helped or not. But the car was a 305 and went mid 14's all day with rocker, slp runners, 3.73's and a catback.

If you go bigger, try going bigger on the exhaust. The LT1 exhaust side needs some help.

The biggest reason to do it these days is to make a cam you already have work differently

Different rocker ratios will let you easily experiment to see what the car likes.

This will not correct a poor cam choice, nor is it meant as a substitute for a cam swap, this is strictly a tuning tool, to help find some minor power gains.... it could gain a few HP (or potentially lose power) on the average application.

No aftermarket cam here. I'm running a bolt on LT1 and will continue to. I was just curious about it. I thought maybe somebody on here had tried it and I just wanted to see if it was worth my time to do try it or not. It can't hurt to try though.

Anybody else? Any insight is greatly appreciated. If not, I guess I'll be doing some R & D.

well if it helps, i played a bit on my carb small block in my tacoma and i did 1.6 RR on exhaust... i picked up about 8hp on the nitrous, but i think i got about 2hp n/a. could have been other variables as well, but that was on a stock cam. maybe that would help?? trial and error and keep us posted on your findings

Ive used stock 1.5's on intake and 1.6's on exhaust. This was a SI bolt on with 150 shot of nitrous. I got better gas mileage during everyday driving. And I dynoed before and after. I picked up 12 rwhp on motor. On spray 1.5, 1.5 132 rwhp gain on 1.5, 1.6 149 rwhp gain. My new heads will be done this week. Im running 7/16 studs with 1.6 intake and 1.7 exhaust.

12 hp N/A, and 17hp on spray? Awesome! Thanks for the info. That is my plan to run 1.6s on intake and 1.7s on exhaust.

My old 396ci had 1.5/1.6, never ran the car but I'd rather rock some 1.6's all the way around.

I went 8.99 with a Camaro LT1 in a truck with 1.5, put 1.65 and went 8.84. LT1's seem to respond to more lift on a stock cam.

Would I do 1.65 again? NO! I would change cam so like they say too much of a good thing might be too much

I use 1.6 on the intake and 1.52 on exhaust with a ZZ4 cam. I wanted to bring the intake lift up a bit, came to 506/516. Ran this setup since I put the cam in, so don't know if it makes a difference.

I have 1.65 on the intake and 1.5 on the exhaust. Times in signature. No since of opening the exhaust valve any more then you have to. Not to mention by opening the exhaust valve more you are running risk of bring the valve closer to the piston on the exhaust stroke.
