i replaced my power steering pump and i was wondering how do i bleed a power steering system any help would be appreciated mike

 

just turn the wheel all the way to the left and all the way to the right... the fluid will have bubbles in it for a day or two. make sure its topped off and do not over fill!

 

I have changed pumps on 2 lt1's and never bled it. I don't think you can. Unless there is a way to bleed the rack. Just drive it and check the fluid for a couple days. When I changed my brothers pump it didn't feel like it was working at first. Then I guess the air released because it started working fine.

 

yeah... cause you bled the system by turning the wheel all the way one way then all the way the other... then it worked

I have (with the belt off of course), filled the reservoir and turned the pulley by hand several times. Don't know if I did any good or not, but I like to think I did.

 

haha. you bled the pump, but you didnt bleed the whole system

 

Like we said, can't really bleed the rack.

 

well. the best way is to just run the car and turn the wheel all the way
