Default Any extra hp tricks out there???

I've already done the basic bolt ons and free mods, what are some other things I can do that will yield more horsepower or help reliablity outside of regular maintenance. For example my friend with a 5.9 dodge ram put his timing chain on 4* retarded and there was a noticeable difference in power. Any ideas out there???

Its a PCM, for a mail order tune its 175-200 at most(which btw his saig states he has a tune), a dyno tune is 500+ (which is not recommended at this stage), and it WILL NOT give 30-40 hp. Depending on mods and tuner you can get some more out of the car, but you can get more when there is more mods.

There is no need to mechanically advance or retard a cam. If your going to go as far as replacing it, do the cam it self and get it tuned.

Looking at your mod list aside from thowing a cam and rockers in there, work on suspension

alright, im sure getting the suspension done would be the wisest thing to do, although a cam or gears would be alot more fun thanks for the tips man

^^ electric water pump if you dont DD the car too much.

you could also add a cutout, and a ported TB or aftermarket one.

Start shedding some weight off of the car. Spare tire/jack, sound deadening in the back, door bars, bumper supports, the brace above the panhard bar, passenger air bag, etc... You can easily take a good 100-150 off of your car, and noone would know it. Now, your car won't be nearly as safe if you should happen to get into a fender bender, so it's up to you.

Also, before installing the pacesetters you should have ground out the casting/welding flash from the inside of the flange. Go look into a set on the inside the next time you see them, you'll see what I mean. They really choke down about 3/4 of an inch into the tube.

i do DD the car 300miles a week prolly, so water pump is a no go, cutout would do no good, i have LT headers with a straight pipe into the SLP LM's. what do u think about a TB Airfoil, 1le elbow, and a tune? im hoping for atleast 10rwhp from that and maybe some 84+mph traps

I have the airfoil, i didnt notice a difference but there are some dyno proven gains. I noticed a big improvement with a tune even when I was just stock. The elbow I'm not sure about, I got a trickflow aluminum elbow and I didnt really notice a difference with that.

Yeah, i noticed a slight gain with that. The engine was smoother and revved faster.
