i beat one at the track a couple of times. I would destroy him from the hole. I say race him from a dig if you take off real well. If your m6 isnt so great from a stop try a 10-15 roll, thatll be right in your torque band, you should jump ahead, and stay ahead for a good while at least. Hes probably 280-290 whp, you are probably pretty close to that, 260 or 270 at least, plus a couple hundred pounds lighter.

dig
If you want to win race from a dig for sure i have an 04 gto raced my buddy with a 02 gt from a dig and i beat him by like a few inch's and when i raced him the other day on the highway(illegal yes) from a 50 roll i slaughtered the living ***** out of him. That independant rear suspension sucks bad for racing i hate that they put that on there thats prob my next mod i will get is a solid rear axle or something not sure yet open to suggestion's.

I think a friend got video of my wife walking all over a bolton GTO a couple months ago. I don't know what the GTO owner and his friends were more shocked about, the fact a Caprice walked him or the fact a woman was driving and it was only her second racing trip.
He ran low 13s, my car was running low to mid 12s that day.

As long as you can drive you do not need much, I would still put nitrous on it to blow him away...To the Mr. Wizard that thinks street racing is terrible...there are times to do it and there are times not to do it, when the road is open everything goes!

Launching!
In my opinion, most of the race will come down to how familiar each driver is with their car. I have pretty wide meats on my 95 formula, on vette wheels, cai, catback, far as I know thats it. A typical day, anything below 30mph you can't put the throttle down all the way or you just whip the back end around everywhere. I'm still learning how to launch this thing. Anything less than 2k rpm's, and it bogs, anything more than 2400 rpm's and it just burns the tires off. Alot of it is me though, I have a decent amount of experience with a stick, but not in a sports car with gobs or torque.

take your backseats out, spare tire and jack, and any other unnecessary things that you can take out. run on a 1/4 tank of gas. use your defrost to kick your engine fans on before you race to keep your motor cool, make sure you turn it off before you race though. and most importantly, KNOW HOW TO WORK THAT CLUTCH! with my old stock motor i used to smash cars with more power than me from powershifting. meaning keeping the gas pretty much to the floor when shifting. practice that....

Its all in the clutch work, However, when you launch, dont launch more than probably 22/2300..- just take it out and practice launching to where you dont bog but dont spin a whole lot either..
Oh- and a hint- if the GTO has the traction control OFF, you will pull it hard off the dig- they go into torque management mode and it takes a ton of power away... and if he has it ON, the TC will kick in and slow his *** down.. lol- so be prepared for the excuses..

I've been wondering the same thing sort of. A couple of kids who don't really know too much about cars both bought 04 auto GTO's in town. Both of them got raped on the prices, lol, and both are stock, as far as I know. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have too much of a problem with either of them. I'm just scared of top-end since the LS1 walks all over LT1's up top. I'm really not too scared of LS1 auto GTO's ever since I rode in my brother's. All he had was a programmer and it didn't seem nearly as fast as I thought it would.

well- they have been proven to gain as much as 85hp by dyno tuning on a stock engine w/ some boltons..
most of it i think is the torque management.. I've seen a 6.0L gain 83hp on the dyno....

CAI, full exhaust and a tune. i beat a 5.7 goat just fine and that was with 2.73's factory stall and a A4. Took a 6.0 a couple of months ago at the track real bad. he pulled high 13's while i ran a 13.0 @109. they launch real shitty and thats coming from a guy thats pulling 2.2+ 60' times. (god i need gears and a stall.........)
