Default How to make my 95' Ta outrun a 04' GTO?

So I've got my 1995 Trans Am. It's a 6 speed with pacesetter heads and that's it. But some kid at school got a 2004 GTO his dad gave him, it's an automatic though. But were suppose to race to see who's the fastest kid at school. I'm gonna need some good advice on this one...

Thanks, Phillip - FAST AUTO

That's the GTO with the LS1 in it right? Heavy and down on power from their LS2 brothers. Full exhaust and a tune should have you right next to him, especially with you being an M6 and him an auto. Run him from a roll.

i beat one with nothing more than a CAI, pacesetter headers and an open cutout. I was actually kind of disappointed how poorly it performed.

I know when I was making 340 whp in my 95 Z28 i was out running the LS1 and LS2 GTO's pretty easly. Once I made more power at the wheels, it became a no contest. I've got video if you need it.

There is this blue one and Silver one around here where i live . They are both LS2's and the blue one has alot of mods on it. I handed it to him with a little effort but still still won with no doubt. The silver one i ran him from a roll and from a dig. I was misfiring like a mother and still one. other than that. They are nice cars.

awesome! you are in the same boat i am! i have a 93 TA with cai, long tube headers, full exhaust, laughing gas, and other minor bolt-ons, and my buddy just bought a 04 gto... i raced him without the gas and beat him by a car length and a half..... i think you got a good race, make sure you have witnesses though, so when you do beat him, you have proof that you beat up on a $22k car with your TA!!!
GOOD LUCK MAN!

NO dig! LT1s love the dig But a 20-30mph roll in my A4 is a sweet blessing I don't know how the LS1s like it.

hit it with a 150 shot, youll pull him so hard he'll think something went wrong with his car.

for those that say that it's bad or it will hurt the motor, I've ran close to 20 10lb bottles through my lt1 this past summer, internally stock with 140k miles, still has great compression and seems to run better than it did before i sprayed it lol

Intake and exhaust is the key.... you got headers, get a better flowing exhaust, and a k&n cold air intake and you should notice a good difference.

Your going to have trouble, the GTO is heavier and a auto but still makes better power then you. Your race from a roll is your best chance. From a stop you are toast.

Bolt on power and a cheap n2o kit will help, but depends on time and $$$

Yeah, my LT1 always loved the dig too much. Insomuch as it blew the stinking tires off through 1st and 2nd, even when it was stock. If this kids car is anything like mine was he'll need the role

Don't be an artard and race on public streets - that sounds like what you plan on doing.

Why would he be toast from a stop? Everyone knows lt1's low end is better than the ls1 stock for stock... The higher you start the more of an advantage you give the goat plus he's heavy as hell and wont get started as easy. Plus I believe w/ the IRS it makes it a bitch to launch
