I wanted to install an lt4 knock module on my 97 firebird but when i went to the dealership they could not find the module on my PCM anywhere. I started looking on summit to see if i could find one but the model years went from 92 to 96. My question is does the 97 still use a knock module that plugs into the PCM I guess i could just go pull mine out and look but I figured the less amount of stress I put on all those wires the better.

yeah you have one. you have to take out the cars computer. very easy. theres 2 10mm bolts that hold it in place. just jiggle it out and there is a cover on the back of the computer. unscrew it and the module will be right there

yeah you have to take your pcm out then you have to remove a plate which require torx bits. The part number is 16214681. I wouldn't suggest getting it from a regular dealership because they tried to charge me something like $65 for it when I can get it online for like 30. If you want I can pm you the website since they are a sponsor. It's an easy swap just make sure your battery is disconnected to prevent any way of frying your computer and swap them out by pressing in the tabs of the lt1 km and push in the lt4 and put everything back together. Let the battery sit unplugged for 20 min to reset everything and you should be good to go

I've been wanting to buy a LT4 KM for my car but I already have the tune from madz28 in which he de-sensitized my stock KM. Will it hurt if I get a LT4 KM? I'm thinking since it is already desensitized that if I put in a LT4 KM it will be too sensitive if thats even possible. I also don't even know if I need one. Is there a way to know besides those fancy scanners and such? No performance shops around me do LT1's.
