When I hit the gas I hear a clunk
The car ran perfect until the other night when I kept dropping the gears in the auto while racing a Cobra. Then I felt somewhat of a vibration from under the car perhaps the driveshaft. Tonight at a cruising speed if I let off the gas then hit the gas again I hear a clunking noise coming from my guess the rear of the car and I can feel a vibration under the car at certain speeds. Im guessing its the driveshaft? possibly out of balance or it needs to be tightened up back there or something? maybe the trans?

Yea the mileage means nothing. mine trans mount went out at 25k miles and it sounds like the transmision is about to come through the floor. if its the u-joints you would be more of a ping not a clunk!!You can look under the car and see the rubber mount and see if it is split!!More than likely if you were ragging the tranny like that thats what it is! Hope this helps

+ 1 on the mount. easy fix. dont buy a 15 dollar replacement tho. you will buy an infinite number. spend the money on the polyurethane ones...they run like 50 or 60 bucks.

I would go with your trans mount...but then again it could be u-joints. My rear joint is sort of stiff and it does the same thing you described. The trans mount would make a loud clunk under your center consol, Try gunning it from a stop and see if it does it.

It is still a clunk but its metal on metal instead of the trans on the floor. Thats what it sounded like in my Silverado maybe it had to do with the size of the shaft i have no idea jus my ears i guess!

Replace those u-joints, Just make sure you have a shop who knows what they are doing. I had a shop press mine in without torching the plastic out and they ended up bending the end of the shaft pretty good.

I have a UMI torque arm that Im about to put on so Ill have a new mount for that and I figure Ill just replace the tranny mount and I was planning on putting in an LS1 Driveshaft so would that resolve my u-joint issue? or do they not come with u-joints? sry I dont know much about driveshafts.
