I daily drove a stalled A4 w/ 4.10s for almost a year. It was awsome.

It all comes down to driveabilty preferances.

i daily drove my T/A with 4.10s and it wasn't so bad. The rpms at 65 were right at 2500 iirc. It really picked the car up (chirped second everytime and would chirp them from a roll too) and I'd probably do it again.

Also keep in mind that my definition of streetable includes open headers. My car is proof of this.

i'm just sayin if its your dd and your at all worried about mpg or anything youd want 3.73. That tends to be the preferred choice

I think it also depends what ratio you're coming from. If you have 2.73s, I think you'd be content with 3.42s (cheaper to get since M6s came stock with them). But if you DO have 2.73s, then grab the whole carrier if you get just them from a stock car. Otherwise you'll have to buy 2 Series gears instead of the 3 Series that 3.23 and up equipped cars use. I'll be using 3.42s here shortly. Only because I"m installing a new rear that has them.

also if you are using the 10 bolt consider that the pinion gets real small with 4.10 gears which can affect durability.

I went from 3.73s to 4.10s and I love it...I also run 275 60 R15 M/T radials (28" tall) so it tames the 4.10s a bit, but My wife has 4.10s in her 2000 SS A4 and its great...

I have 3.73's and personally wouldnt want any more than that, the high rpm's somewhat annoy me quite a bit with the 3.73's but thats just me.

Be careful those 10 bolts suck, I would just put some 342 and save your money and get a new 12 bolt or 9in with some 410 and a spool and you will never have rearend issues agian. just my.02

M6 you might not want too if you drag race it at a track..or at least not leave hard with them. I have 4.10s in my auto now..drive it to work etc. It certainly makes it fun to drive. I dont put alot of miles on my car though...especially not hwy miles.

Like was said previously...its all personal preference...diff strokes for diff folks

I DD my Z that has a 3200 converter and 4.10's I run it at the track too. Probably 100 passes on it and no problem. I drive to work 25 miles each way and get 19 hwy. I run the 28" M/T ET Street Radials

I almost put 4.10 in mine...kinda glad i didnt but you will be faster. you will wear out the motor quicker. you will spin more. and a stock auto lt1 with 4.10 will slip into overdrive before the end of the 1/4 and you just lost all your performance

I like my 3.73's

NOT true in my case. I have dozens of Datamaster logs to show that it comes nowhere close to hitting OD.

4.10s are just about perfect for a stock car. 106 mph at 5700. of course theres a small amount of converter slip. my old TCI stall was about 7% slip so Im gonna guess the stock stall is a little more efficient than that. regardless once you get boltons you should get a PCM tune, I had my shift points raised to 6000 rpm with full boltons. 6000 rpm with 4.10s is 112 mph.

not to mention 6 speed guys run 4.10s. what would make it any different for them to use 4.10s than an auto guy? both will trap in the 1:1 gear.

I'll be installing 4.10s once I get my next engine together. 4000 rpm stall with 7000 rpm shift points though

Wow... knowing that i'd never put 4.10s in my dd. I don't even really like reving at 2500 at 75 cruisin on the highway with my 3.23's. I was thinking about jumpin up to 3.42's or 3.73's, but i guess until i get another dd and make my Z28 a weekend warrior i wont even touch the rear end.

Anybody know what the approx. speed at 5700 is with 3.23's??
