Delteq VS Opti
well my opti just went out in my car maybe about 800 miles on if that many. I was thinking about putting the delteq system on my car just wanting to hear some reviews from others with this system GOOD and BAD. i also have a 383 in my car is this system good with high HP cars?

i have the delteq and LOVE it!!! not 1 problem in the 2 years i've had it on the car. ohhh and i wash my engine everytime i wash the car and the delteq has never failed. and my 383 made 402rwhp and 408rwtq with the old cam. it should be a little more with the new cam. i just started it up with the new cam a couple of weeks ago. i will never own another ltx car without the delteq system.

you will need a new opti to go along with the delteq.the set up has had quite a few reviews and people like it,same goes with the LTCC both great products.
i have been looking heavily into the two of these units and really have not decided on the best for my set up.
there is a bunch of reading material for the two,the LTCC seems to be more expandable though....

He's referring to the DIS-4 ignition (MSD) and the interface modules. Personally, I did not really like the DIS-4, too many wires. I loved the Delteq, but there are several features you don't get with the system unless you add in the DIS-4. That being said, I needed at least a timing retard with the Delteq and finally just went back to the original opti setup. With my new Mallory, I've got the retard, a rev limiter, and even a two step. I did keep the Delteq in case they came out with any upgrades.

Smoked out Z28,
You may not want to put up with the additional wiring that is required to run the DIS 4, tach interruptor, coil interfacers & red msd twin towers. It definitely takes a little time to figure out the wiring for a DIS-4 and the Delteq. I also did the GEN II dynatech billet opti (rotor-less upgrade) with the DELTEQ billet cover. I definitely was happy when I finished, but it was a B*tc* to get the wiring correct
Dhdenney,
That has to be one of the best compliments I have ever received. I appreciate the props !

I have had the delteq unit for ummm... 3-4 years now. I'm not pushing crazy power or RPM but, it works great and makes wire and plug access a bit more conveniant as well (assuming you dont mind taking that time initially to make custom wires).

It still needs a working opti, and if you can figure out what is wrong to kill a new opti then the opti will survive and you don't need to pretend to bypass it as these kits do.

It just eliminates the cap and rotor function as was said ^^^. Some people think it eliminates the whole thing. If you're having problems with cap and rotor and the optical is ok, then the Delteq or LTCC will work.
