Default few small problems

cold start my car idles high

cant figure it out...i can drive 5 minutes and it will still ilde at 1500-1800+ at lights...but 5 seconds after i start it if i let the clutch out and bog down the motor 3 or 4 times it will idle down to 100 and stay there just fine...

i removed the t/b and cleaned well...check for vac leaks...but its perfectly fine after it idles down, like it has trouble searching for idle...but it doesnt change just stays at 1500-1800...if i let it sit and idle it will take about 45 seconds and it will idle down to 1000

my friends cars the same just an auto and he starts his and it idles great even on cold starts

might be related but when i park my car after driving it kinda smells like gas as i get out, but not when sittin there...think the charcoal canister might be full...can you dry it out or clean it out or do you have to purchase a new one?

car also idles rough somtimes...bounces from 800-1000 like it spudders...

mods are longtubes k and n cold air...tr6 (might cause rough idle???) poly motor and trans mounts...bmr subframes...lca/relos thats it....nothin on the motor tranny or car is older than 9k miles...

also notice someimtes that my car slowing down to a stoplight in neutral it will idle from 1200-1500 surging slowly...which i dont think is normal...any ideas?

i had a similar problem and i smelled raw fuel when the car was off. I replaced my fuel pressure regulator and the problem was solved.

Could be the Ignition..sounds like when it goes into Closed Loop it levels out, may possibly be related to that..

I'm actually putting the Engine back in it here this weekend..Oil Pump went out in the setup and spun a Rod Bearing..got very lucky with it, there was very minor damage to it. About $500 to put it back on the Road.

Symptoms sound like a vac leak to me. Do you happen to have a vac gauge?

no vac gauge...thats what i though was a vac leak...but im not sure where...originally it idles high all the time then i found the pcv vale has a rubber piece from it to the metal line to the front of the intake and it was cracked by where the metal line meets the rubber line under the t/bfixed that and it was 100% better...but now im not sure where else it could be...i might need to check that i didnt mess anything up there...
btw the car has no egr or air...

Sounds like a fuel issue if you are smelling gas. Check all ur lines and then go to the FPR and fuel filter.

i dont think its fuel issue...pretty sure the charcoal canister is close to being full

no leaks as i been tracing down a fuel pressure drop after i turn off the pump...i just installed it...it actually made a bunch of the problems go away i had 25 psi before it...but i have a guage and its rock hard at 46 psi or so at idle

im goana try to check the iac counts this weekend ill keep yall updated

yall sure that 18-20 of vacume is right?

iac was around 29 at idle...never went below 25 or above 35...perfectly normal...

o2 were both boucing around like normal...neither was lazy...blm i think were around 120....

weird though the desired idle was 800..but on the scanner it said it was idleing between 920-960

FYI, as soon as liquid gas gets in the charcoal canister, it's ruined. If your suspecting it's the EVAP system, pull the EVAP lines off and see if they have raw fuel in them. Better yet, go ahead and disconnect it from the motor to see if it's the problem. All you have to do is disconnect the purge solenoid connector and plug off the throttle body port.

And how old is the fuel filter?

Since you have a scanner look at your coolant temp. sensor. It's the one in the water pump not the one in the driver's side head (that's for the gauge) If it has failed and the computer thinks the engine is dead cold it will dump a whole lot of fuel and can cause the fuel smell and hard starting. Just an idea.
