Default 11 sec cam only come inside

i know it's possible, i am trying to choose a cam that will put me into the 11s on stock heads stock bottom end. mods are in sig i plan on getting a yank converter with the cam. the car is a daily driver but i don't mind going with a pretty big cam, the only problem is that i'm up at 100k miles so i don't want to spin the engine over 6200. I'd like to shift sooner if possible. I've been looking at gm847,cc306 but they are too big and rev to high for me, but i want bigger than a cc503 so if anyone has dyno sheets of those or a custom cam inbetween there than i'd really like to see em. The car is weekend track car so i'd like to see quarter mile times as well. SO POST UP YOUR SETUP!!! thanks

i personally dont see 11's with stock heads, large cam, not spinning over 6200. someone correct me if i am wrong, but i would suggest going to a decent sized cam and a whole bunch of weight reduction. with an awesome suspension set-up and lightened car i believe you might get quite a bit closer. just my opinion

You won't hit 11's cam only that easily unless your on a huge diet. It can be done with a healthy dose on nitrous and cam of your choice. My best N/A time with a cam only was 12.38 pulling 1.55 60 foots. Shifting at 6500. The thing about nitrous is you don't have to rev the motor as tight.

Even spinning up to only 6200 is sorta leaving a little out on the table for the 503 so Im not so sure you want to go any bigger than that id prob consider a custom grind.

Make gobs of torque, smaller cam than those you considered MUCH smaller, to keep revs low and concentrat on making it hook. This is going to be MUCH more in the chassis and you than in the cam selection.

Its possible if you cut some weight. I know Herron's car is well into the 11's on stock cam but it has some major weight reduction. suspension work, and of course gears.

With the right suspension, rear, weight reduction, driver, and tune it is very possible!

I know the crane 227 and the LPE 211/219 have been pretty quick for such baby cams.

a 211/219 seems pretty small for what i wanna do. i may be wrong thought any times with this cam? I was considering getting a custom cam around a 232/237 on a 112lsa, has any one had experience with anything around this size? if so let's see the set up! videos would be sweet, i have found a lot of them but only off the shelf cams no customs. thanks for the help

A cam like that 232/237 on a 112 is going to want to be shifted at 6500 all day. That is a nice step above the 503 cam.

people always recommend the 306 and GM847, i.e. the biggest cams you can buy off the shelf: where are those people now?

Its funny because most the cars I have seen go 11s on the stock heads, had cams no bigger than a CC305 or in many cases smaller.

a good portion of people would rather "sound" fast than be fast. alot of people prefer the sound over performance. in example cc306/gm847 on semi-stock motors. i am looking into the gm847, but i am in the process of the supporting mods to increase flow for this camshaft.

My car has a cam much closer to the 503 than the 306, currently have shift points set at 6250 and it takes a couple hundred rpms for the shift to happen, in cold weather when it is making power and the tranny is not up to temp not uncommon to hit 6500 during the shift, warmer weather when the tranny is warm and it says below but not by a huge amount.

The baby Lingenfelter and Crane cams are about what you want if you want to stay below 6200.

I agree with the guy who said a lot of people are more interested in sounding fast than being fast.

CC306s sound awesome, just don't see the point in a stock headed car, pound for pound they don't really run better than the smaller cams when their in a bolt on car with stock heads. They may sound mean as hell, but I really haven't seen to many out there on stock heads that have put up ETs smaller cammed cars haven't already gotten.
