Default Pictures of my stock 100k mile oil pump

I'm definatly glad I'm changing it. And the spring in it was weak as hell to, it wasn't even seating the bypass valve all the way shut against the side. And there was also a lot of junk stuck to the pickup screen.

Canton 242t pan, melling 10554 select with the white spring, and the 20-023 pickup.

~20 at idle, ~30 at 1500, ~40 at 2k, and 50 tops at WOT, all off of the factory guauge. I could have sworn my oil pressure was starting to slowly fall over time and I guess I was right. As far as pulling it, I jacked up the motor until the tranny hit the tunnel, lowered the k-member and took out the back bolts, then the stock pan came right out when I tilted the k-member back. To get in my canton pan I had to lower the shock towers about 1/2", then the pan barley fits in when I tilt the k-member back.

i have my old one from the rebuild - you have peaked my interest....i am going to pull mine apart and see what i find...it had 130k miles on it. I went with the Canton 15-242T and the melling MEL-10552C and the 20-013 pick up.......really nice set up in case anyone is interested. I only had a small amt of clearance issues on the 383 assembly right at the front of the pan on the windage tray flange.

Good catch getting that changed. Would have been terrible to have an oil pressure drop issue.

I took out the back 2 k-member bolts on each side, loosend the front bolt to where its barley in, lowered the shock towers from the engine bay, and then tilted back the k-member with a crow bar. The pan will BARLEY slide in after doing that.

Looks like more of an issue of debris running through it than being worn. They really don't wear much if no debris runs through them.
