If you intend to make the record, I hope your car is not your daily driver. It takes weight reduction, a lot of stall, a lot of gear, great suspension(and the time and skill to dial it it), etc. Not something you can just throw money at to get

With that being said, it will depend on your tire size and gearing.

**edit** To put it in perspective, I run a tenth or so quicker in my DD but needed ported heads and a custom cam to do it. Many people do not even get that quick with a H/C. With bolt-ons I was only able to squeeze a modest 12.8 on salad shooters w/DR's. Suspension is key to great ET's!

I also agree. To break the bolt on record you will need a lot of gear, big stall, super light weight, a great suspension, and a perfect tune. I wouldn't expect it to happen with a dd unless you are super hardcore.

As for your converter, I remember a post where Shon Herron stated that he had planned to swap his T-56 for a TH350 and a 3500 Vig, but his motor expired before he got around to doing the swap.

I'm building mine into a light weight bolt on car and also plan to use a TH350, but I will probably go with an ATI converter. When it comes time to pick the converter I will use whatever they recomend for my set up.

BTW, I voted for the 3300, because of the 3.06 first gear ratio of the 4L60E that you are using. I believe that with too much stall you will blow right past the torque curve of the stock cam.

As said, to break that record, you would need more stall than could really be used on the street, like a 4500-5000.

The fastest LS1 bolt on cars don't even use that much stall and they have much higher power band than an LT1.

Ok, Bro! Let's see, four cars out of the top LS1 Top 50 Stock Internal List reported using a converter over 4500 rpm stall. Can you enlighten me further?

I have read in places, one of them being Texas Speed & Performance.. and found some of their best results were with 5000+ Stalls..

We've gotten off topic, but I'll chime in. When Lane (of Lane's true duals) had one of the fastest stock internal LS1 Camaros, he was running with a 4400 stall. Pretty sure it was a Yank, FWIW. I drove the car on the street and even had the chance to get on it. It felt incredible for stock internal car.

Going for the bolt-on LT1 record? I have no clue what would be the very best stall speed, but I agree with the guys who say it might not make for a good DD.

Just to confuse the issue further, Lane drove his as a DD.

Killer? Be carefull!

I'll look into TS&P. You do realize this discussion was about bolt on cars, right?

I picked 3,400 because I dont know if this is a full weight street car, or a daily driver etc

If its a weekend/record car

I suggest going with a 3,600 or a lil more

LS1s as you can see also run high stalls

I was told by Andre over at Edge converters that for a bolt on LT1 you could go as high as a 3600 stall (with their stall) to get the maximum performance. I went with a 3300 because mine is a daily driver and still gets great gains.

Trying to be quick with bolt ons is one thing. Trying to be the quickest, is a whole different game.

If you seriously want the record, you'll have to do a little bit of math in reverse, sort of. Figure out EXACTLY what mph you need to hit to get the record. By knowing the mph you need to hit you can figure out what gear you need and the PERFECT tire size to get you through 1320 feet at around 6600+rpm. You will need a bigger stall than what you have listed.

ok the bolt on record is kind of a ultimate goal... in the far future...

with that being said it is a summer DD on nice days... but i do want a converter that will maximize my performance.. and to the last poster i disagree. i know for a fact 1slowformula is running a 3500 vig and is running 12.0 in a bolt on LT1. you dont need a way high stall rating to do it

A summer dd and a record holding drag car are two very different animals. GL with your quest.
