This is my setup and it did improve my 1/4 mile .1 or .2 if I remember right. I can't find my time slips right now.

as a suggestion, if you dont care much about the radiator cover, you can cut some of it out and slide some rubber around the edges to smooth them out so air can be fed from the bottom of the filter. then add FTRA later on to scoop it up there.

Definitely unique, but I agree that a lid setup would probably be better for hp. If you put it on the dyno to judge gains, make sure the hood is closed.
Very clean install!

The LS1 lid gains on an LT1 have been debated here before. Actual dragstrip testing with a NON ws6 style hood netted little or no gains. Do a search.
IMO aint worth the trouble.
BUT, his setup would work with a sheetmetal box that sealed to the hood and was open on the front to get air from the hoodlatch area.

One of the reasons he moved it was to make a nice engine bay mount point for the msd 6AL, not just that he wanted the ls1 intake for a gain of power. I believe its pretty sweet and can be made to be functional. Sucking air thru the fenderwell sucks in the rain it tends to get wet its just easier with a setup like this.
