Default hypertech programmer

I'm looking at a hypertech programmer for a 97 lt1 for sale and want to buy it, but I have a 96 lt1. After looking around hypertech has a different programmer for the 96 and 97 lt1 camaro/firebird.

My question is...will the programmer for the 97 lt1 work? I thought the 96 and 97 were pretty much the same car?

thanks for the quick reply. I figured it wouldnt work but just wanted to be sure. The only reason I was even considering it was because I have 373's and need to get the spedo recalibrated but I cant afford to have the car down while I send the computer off to be tuned...and I really cant justify a dyno tune for a mostly stock car.

Can't you still do the plastic-gear change in the 4L60Es? I don't know how diff the Es are from the 700R4s :\

After thinking about it, I believe you're right. I think even moreso if it's an auto.

The best thing is to call Hypertech, you might just need a different cable for your year, car.
When my car was stock with just bolt ons,I purchased the programmer after doing a gear change to calibrate the speedometer. As far as performance gain, I did not really notice any from their power tuning.
