sub-frame connector question?? is there any real benefit to using either type (weld-in or bolt-on)? i notice that most weld-ins are a good bit cheaper, but the bolt-ons i could install myself. also i would think that the integrity would be stronger with weld-in because they literally become fused with the body. what do you guys think? thanks.

I have custom made chromemoly weld-ins that are only 10# total...
My goal with SFC's were to have the a good deal of strength and low weight, and this was the best way to accomplish that goal...
It all depends on what you are going to do with the car...

I had them done in a performance fab shop in Maryland, but is was well worth trailering the car a few hours down there for it...

hmm... it's definitely something to look into. i'll see what i can find around my area. so they were the same price for a lighter weight? how much do off-the-shelf sub-frames weigh?

If I remmeber when I was doing research a few years back.
MS - averaged about 20-25#...
CM - averaged about 15-20#...
more for the X brace types...

I just looked at a few and it looks like the weights have come down, spohn is now 17.5 for MS and 13 for CM...

I just installed some bolt-ins onto my car and plan on having them welded at a later date. Bolting them on gives you 100% confidence they are exactly where they need to be. And unless under the car of a high HP motor, I wouldn't imagine the bolt holes stretching unless it's over an extended period of time..
