I weighed one of my salad shooters with a 245/55/16 tire and a Weld 15 X 10 with a MT 275/50/15 drag radial. They weighed exactly the same even though the Weld wheel is bigger and has a bigger tire. The 15 X 3.5 fronts are another story. With a Moroso DS-2 front runner I can literally pick it up with two fingers. If you're trying to go fast, drag wheels are a good move.

The stock 16x8 salad shooters are 19.5lbs, and a 15x10 draglite is ~15. The front runners are like 13 ea. Total rim weight reduction is around 22lbs, most of it off the front.

Yes, it is worth it If you do not feel comfortable with a full 3.5 wide front runner, like if you DD your car and do not want two sets of rims/tires, you can go to a larger size but will sacrifice some front end weight reduction for it.

One important thing to compare is that with the 15", you will have more sidewall for better traction(rears)

Ok, heres some more info. A 15x 3.5 weld draglite weighs around 11lbs. You can buy 165/85r/15 (volkswagon beetle 1969-+) radial tires for it. Each tire will weigh about 18-19lbs. Or you can buy Moroso drag special tires, from Summit or Jegs. The 2-ply is the lightest at around 10lbs apiece. Do not run the 2-ply unless your car is very light ie: at most 3000 lbs with you in it. If it's over 3000 get the 4-ply DS-2 tire which is about 1-2lbs more. A 15x3.5 draglite with a Moroso tire will shave approx. 40-45lbs of UNSPRUNG weight off of the front of your car which is HUGE.
