Re: cc 306 cam???
I know lots of people have had this cam. Most guys seem to love it. Several guys with M6 and 4:10 gears with that cam have seen high 11's (ET streets needed for traction). I don't think it's a great A4 cam (personal observation) unless you've got a Vigi/Yank Torque converter. I have the CC224/236 and it's been great in my car and the guys car that had it before me.

Re: cc 306 cam???
I'm putting the 306 in my car.
LT1 Edit on hand for the tuning though
with stock heads, and upgraded valve springs it'll make decent power on the 1.5 RR's you'll see a huge jump in power with 1.6 RR's though.

it would be more power but not a huge amount of power, i would guess around 5-7 rwhp. after all you still have stock heads. and its actually .544 and .576 roughly. unless my calculator is wrong.

Re: cc 306 cam???
Can any one tell me what the to the car would dyno with with the 306 and stock heads.
You would gain -> <- much with 1.6 rockers. If you already have 1.5s, don't sweat it. If you are about to buy rockers, get the 1.6s, non-self aligning, and with a 7/16" dia stud.
I would not run this cam in an A4 car. You'd probably need a vacuum canister. Don't listen to weenie cam proponents about low end powerloss. This cam makes good power across the board. Tuning is key to making driveability - mail order tuning won't cut it.
Talking with a friend about this cam on stock heads... The small ports (high velocity) of the stock heads probably HELP the driveability of this cam. More compression would help as well, but yes, it will work!

Re: cc 306 cam???
cc306 worked just fine with an auto and 3200 vig. you definitly dont need a vacuum canister. i would think it would drive good with a litte 2800 as well. buddy's heavy vert with that combo, ported heads and stock shortblock went 11.80 NA with no dyno tuning and about 3800lbs i would guess. car drove great. to run good at the track though that cam/stock shortblock needs about a 4200 converter get you through 1st gear. with the 3200 it was pretty weak out of the hole until the RPMs started to climb
fwiw i had an old cc306/stock shortblock/6 speed combo a couple years ago. went 11.34 @ 121 NA and 10.54 @ 132 on the gun. 3600lbs, no dyno tuning, and stock shocks etc (tire spin). used to be my only car and everyday driver with that combo and i have no complaints about that cam. i used and recommend the Crane 10308-1 spring/retiner kit. its cheap, fits in stock seats, and after a couple years of daily driver and racing use they didnt float at 7000 rpm. we also used them in my buddys car, along with a hydra-rev kit on both cars

Re: cc 306 cam???
btw, forgot to mention that i did run the CC306 in my 6 speed car for a while on stock heads and near stock tuning. just made a few changes myself with LT1 edit. it drove fine for me, though im not sure if you would be more picky than me or not.

Re: cc 306 cam???
Thanks for clearing the vacuum/A4 deal up Darren - I could only speculate on that, though with the stock idle I bet the brakes would suck. Did the A4 car have tuning at all?
FWIW, I ran the 306 on bone stock tuning for a month. Had some nice surge, but it was definitely driveable. However, it DID take quite a bit of tuning to get it back to near-stock driveability (stock 3.42 gears).
I should also backup and say that I wouldn't want an auto anyway, so I surely wouldn't want this cam with auto!

Re: cc 306 cam???
actually an auto would be nicer because with any 2800-up converter you wont experience cam surge. only thing that sucks about an auto with that cam is that unless you have a 4000+ converter its going to be a pooch through half of first gear.
why would anybody get an auto anyways, what fun is that
