I am currently finishing a 383 stroker with BIG help of a friend of mine. If I could go back again, I would buy an assembled short block from Golen or something. All the little things that I didn't at first think of have put me thousands over budget. Granted that I have mostly used the best of parts. JE, Compstar, Manley, ATI, Kooks, Cloyes, Crane, Ford SVO injectors, and on and on......
Anyway, I think the buying the short block ready to go would have saved time, money, and a lot of swearing!!! I love the LT1, but its a pain in the *** to work on.

yeah it will be shipped to me fully assmembled with the heads and cam as well. i will just have to install the accessories and put the engine in the car. I might have to have a professional do it only so it doens't void the warranty by me doing it. Would hate to spend that much money on a motor only to have it voided because I installed the engine myself.
