Default Header question!

Hey guys! I am having a H/C/I 383 LT1/LT4 built. Its gotten no (reasonable) expense spared.

Question! The motor is supposed to be about 550/600 HP. I have been looking online at G-body long tube headers for my LT1/4. They sell many size headers... what would be the best for my application?

1 5/8 primary? 1 3/4 primary? or a custom pair of 2" primary?

Assuming 2" primary to be the best, would the additional cost of a 1 3/4" to 2" for an additional 3 or $400 be worth it? Would there be noticable gains?

If you are after all out performance then bigger is better. The larger the primaries the more power you will make up top. But the regular 1 3/4 primaries wont be a huge restriction it will just mean a little less peak hp.

What peak HP gains can I expect? Is it worth the additional 3 or $400 for used or $1000 for custom made 2" primaries? Or should I just buy some hooker 1 3/4 and be done with it?

What kind of realistic gain would I see? If I had 2 cars... built exactly the same with the only difference being the header and we raced... would I gain a half car or more from 0 to 120? or would it be barely a bumper?

I would go with the kooks stepped 1 7/8 headers. Probably the best performance per $ in a case like this (over a custom setup).

I agree!

As for the G-body call them and ask if they make them or can make them.

One Day Down The Road U Will Have To Prolly Go With 1 7/8 So I Would Get Them If U Find Them I Think The 2 Inchers Mite Be A Lil Overkill Especially For The Money!! Its Like Buying Injectors Now U May Need 36 But Later U Know U Will Need Bigger So I Just Always Go With The Ones I Think I Will Need In The Future Saves Having To Try To Sell The S*** And Loosing Money!...my Opinion
