Default Qustion

lets say when we drop my motor to do the oil pump and pan how likly is it that i'LL spin a rod or mains if i took the cap off the see the wear then torque it back down? Im thinking it would because of bolt strech maybe or from being disturbed im starting to gather parts for a rebuild in about 8 months (new job and moving out)

what kind of oil pressure are you seeing?

because honestly if you are going to go through the trouble of doing a new crank and all of the lower bearings then just rebuild the engine. Thats y i said just dont worry about it because the money you spend now is wasted in 8 mos when you do a complete tear down. throw heavier weight oil in it. 8 mos is like 2-3 oil changes. limp it by and save more money to throw into the total rebuild.

Pulling the cap off to inspect will not hurt anything. Just torque it properly when you put it back on.

well warm it stays 5psi when it gets to 180 in town stop n go i flip the fan's on and it will go back to bout 162 where it like's to run and psi will be about 3psi when stoped. start up is 50ish wot hot will get up to 45 # 5500 but no higher than 45# motor is so strong no knocks pings change the oil every 2k or less bad habit?..maybe. i use PP 10w40.. 15w40 a lifter starts clacking but pressure will stay 13ish when whrm-hot sending unit has been replaced

Crazz28 well i have 400 to get crank and berings but i dont have 2500 i would rather waite and everthing will be fresh i dont want to speen no more than 2500-3000 im going to go talk with an engine builder tm (to see if he has done and Lt1's)

thats what i meant.lol there is no point in getting into the motor that deep when you are just going to have it redone in 8 months. Do you have a mechanical oil pressure guage or is this comming from the stocker in the car?
