Man thats a pretty healthy cam....Be ideal for a 383 or 396 stroker huh!

Schweet97z: Which would make more power? The LE2, The LE3, or the GM847??
AND.... Is the GM847 pretty streetable? Or Not?

the le3 would make better power in a stroker, since thats whats its designed for. the le2 make power sooner than the 847, but the 847 is a few years old but makes serious power from 3500 rpm on up.
anything is streetable with the right tuner.

LE2 cam is compared to the cc306, the LE3 cam is compared to the 847, both making more power down low and haveing better numbers through out the rpm band over the "off the shelf" grinds. I am running the 847 in my car now...dont get me wrong, the car SCREAMS, however, you have to be prepared to rev the hell out of it. I have the car shifting at 6400 rpms....on the dyno we had the car going to 6800 and it was still making power. Im sure the cam would make power all the way until the pcm wont let it rev any higher. As far as streetability goes, its all in what you can define as streetable. I have no problems with it, but you need a high stall, and a 3:73/4:10 gear. The car will never see long cruises like it used to.

I have this cam in my car also with a 3200 stall and 3.73 gears. I drive it on the street a lot and i dont have any issues. I do how ever have my shift points at 6700. I just dont care that much cause i dont drive it that much. And i dont care if the motor craps out cause its next on my list anyways. Here my idle clip for it too if u wanna hear it....

Default cam

The more my friend talks about this cam the more i want it lol! I wanted to the le2, but i dont know if i wanna drop 1750 yet plus the $$ 1.6rr. I can afford to go with gm 847 and 1.6rr, and make the stock heads work right now. Do yall think this is a good idea. I have a th350, and will have 3.42 with a welded-stock 10 bolt and all the suspension stuff. I wanna go wit a 4000 yank stall. Also, 150 or 175 shot DP on a new stock bottom motor. Any ideas yays or nays?

the 847 is not a particularly good cam with stock heads. They don't flow enough at the high rpm you need to make power with that cam.

x2

Maybe a cam just a tad smaller (230/236, 227/233, etc...) that way you can keep the shift points under 6400 as well as a little more usable power.

I used it with stock heads, Although I wasent taking advantage of it's full potiential with ported heads I enjoyed it while i had it. Made 353hp/358tq to the wheels N/A and 464/518 with 100 shot.

If your looking for something to last in your Stock shortblock while you save up cash for a rebuild or ported heads the 847 isnt the cam you want! The stock shortblock can't handle the rpms needed to run this cam. If I could do it again I would go smaller so my shortblock would last longer so i can continue to drive my car while I built the 396 rather then have it sit and be without the car. JMO
