Default Drip.. Drop.. Water pump leaks.

Well I found out today that my water pump is leaking. Can't tell if it is coming from the weep hole or just a gasket. With 100k on the clock I might as well replace it.

Good ole AC Delco or Meziere? Can't decide between a regular pump and an electric.

I just bought a Cardone reman pump at Advance Auto Parts. Just as good as AC Delco.

If you have the money, go electric. And don't drive your car anymore if you value your Opti but since you have your pump off, might as well put a new Opti on

if its a DD I would go with a regular pump. I bought a reman. cardone pump and havent had any problems out of it...not to mention they're half the price of a non-reman. pump.

I have replaced mine freaken twice on a 14k mile car. I went with a Napa unit, going electric would be nice but no way I was dishing out the dough for one.

How does an electric water pump work if you don't mind me thread jacking for a minute?

I am a bit leary of Adv. pumps. I put a new one on my Jeep (dd) and 2 weeks later it was pouring out of the weep hole again. I do value my opti, so I am not driving it. Just because you replace the water pump doesn't mean it ***** all over the opti, you can easily avoid getting the opti wet when pulling off the water pump.

The electric add in is only like $200. I am not sure what all that replaces though, as I've never had one apart. If mine is leaking out of the weep hole and I replace the core with an electric unit will that take care of it or do I still need to replace the pump body?

i think it's worth the elec. waterpump. my waterpump was leaking, so i replaced it with an elec, and spilled coolant EVERYWHERE! my opti runs great still. everyone makes it sound like the slightest drop of water on it and it blows up. in fact, you get more water on it by driving through the rain than you think, and it's always ran great.

Pulled the pump off today after locating the leak. It was not coming from the weep hole, but from either a bolt or the pass side gasket. I am just going to put new gaskets on it and put it back on I think. I may still get an electric unit, haven't decided yet. Think they are really worth it?

Nah I didn't put it on in the first place. When I put it back together I will for sure though. I am going to pressure wash it with heat tomorrow to get it prettied up.

Suppost to snow tomorrow so I won't drive the car anyways. Nice thing about 2 vehicles, I have a Jeep to tear up tomorrow instead.

i have to agree. i just did my wp a couple weeks ago and wasn't in the least bit worried about soaking the opti. the 2 sides of the wp spilled most of the water to the side of it anyways, and after seeing how wet it gets just driving and hitting a puddle or something, i wasn't very worried about a little splashing

i would have been pissed if my 3 month old opti shat on me though
