Default Oil pressure problem...

Whats the oil pressure supposed to be at? My friend has an LT1 with 115k miles and his oil pressure is at about 17 at idle (hot) and goes up to about 35 (hot) while cruising, is this too low? He's afraid its too low and wants to sell it to get a 05-06 GTO with a 6 speed...can any of you guys help? Just tryin to save another LT1 owner from switching. Thanks!

Sounds right. My car had 20 at idle and 38 while cruising.

My factory guage reads very similar, but the new mechanical guage shows almost 50 at a cold idle.

17 at idle is plenty. Especially on the stock guage which is notoriously bad for reading low.

I just changed my oil with GC and I get close to 30 idle, nearly 60 cruising.

Would a new sending unit maybe fix the gauge problem? Thanks for the replies!
