Default High idle problems

Ok, so my 93 trans am is almost always idleing at somewhere around 1500 - 2000rpm, however, when i rev lightly at a stop, (M6, clutch in) the idle will sometimes drop to normal (800-900), but sometimes it will just drop back to somewhere between 1500-2000rpm, anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Ben

Sounds like there might be an issue with your IAC valve

That is not a super good idea , if you hit an electrical device and cause an arc your going to have a big *** fire (watched a guy do it and he looked funny with no eye brows ) if your going to go that route then just hit the areas around the areas LIGHTLY and lesson for a noticeable change in rpms . Can you check the voltage for you tps it should be close to .67 of a volt at idle?

Well, i've done it hundreds of times and seen it done hundreds of times. I've not had any problems. You have to use your brain when you do it (don't spray it on headers or heavily on the electrical devices).

I don't think the O2's operate when the car is dead cold. I don't know if you are talking about when you first start it, or after it warms up a bit.

I would get AC Delcos or Delphis. They are the same thing and they seem to work the best in our cars.

I had this problem on my 93 when i first bought it, I found that the return spring on the throttle body had popped out of position and wasn't provideing enough return pressure. You may want to check that.

i fixed a v6 camaro yesterday that had that problem... i knocked the bracket forward a bit towards the throttle body and fixed it. but to the other posters, dont use carb and choke cleaner, use brake cleaner and look for a bog... a bit safer
