Default Oil Leak Around Timing Cover HELP

I just had the motor in my 94Z28 rebuilt to forged 355 and I noticed today that oil is leaking around the bottom of the timing cover? Is there any easy fix for this I was just going to put some RTV around the bottom of the timing cover.

Bottom of the timing cover is actually the front top oil pan seal. It's a seperate rubber seal that can be repaired by taking the front 5 or 6 bolts off each side of the oil pan leaving the rear bolts intact. You can then carefully pry the front of the oil pan down about 1/2 inch and either RTV the old seal or replace it. Never had much luck using RTV around oil without getting the surfaces clean and dry, but you can give it a try.

ya you can do fix it with rtv but if it is a factory style gasket it is one piece all the way around the oil pan and under the timing cover what you have to do is take out all the bolts except the last 2 on the way back of the oil pan for it to drop enough, (i just did this last weekend) its actually not that bad just get the frist 2-3 bolts from the front, and then lay under the car and come in from behind the k member with a long 1/4" extension.

Are you sure it's not coming from the wp drive seal, opti seal or the crank seal? I had a simular situation with mine a few years ago and it turned out to be the wp seal leaking down.

+1 Clean the whole area of the timing cover and let dry....start the car and observe where that leak is coming from. I was in the same situation when I did my heads/cam....turns out to be improper installation of the water pump seal. Good luck.
