Where are you gettin Breslin bolts? I would get a locking bolt and Percey's Deadsoft Aluminum Gaskets. You will then be leak free!

No. ARP's w/ a 3/8" hex or 12-point, 1" long will do just fine.

They aren't necessary. Some people want the added security of a locking bolt, and are willing to pay for it. Some feel it's a complete waste of money. It's not like your headers are going to fall off if you don't use a locking bolt. It's like choosing between stainless headers and mild steel. For me, anything less than stainless wasn't a consideration and I was willing to pay the difference in price. If I had not found some Breslin bolts, I would have used ARP's.

Reminds me it really depends on why type of header used that can decide what bolt to go with (either Stage 8 or ARP at least). I tried to use Stage 8's on my Hooker LT's and there was no chance in hell being able to use the locks and it was impossible to fully tighten the front bolt and was also impossible to use a bolt on the back of the #3 primary between that and the #5 primary. These were 7/16 and were just not worth the trouble. Perhaps they work better for certain headers more than others.

I know someone that used Stage 8's with Kooks. He left off a few of the locks because he couldn't get them on. That kind of defeats the purpose, imo. If you want a locking bolt, the split lock design is much better, imo.

I used the stage 8's. Never had a problem. Had to "custom grind" some of the little slide on lock pieces, but got all of em on there with no problems.

Default Bolts

I have used the Breslin's in the past. Pretty easy install. The Stage 8 and similar are a pain. You have to grind on the lock tabs like 69gto96z said to get them to fit certain tubes. Jegs and Summit have both discontinued this brand. Percy's are available. Just ordered mine but they are back order for about a month. Hope this helps.

Jegs and Summit have discontinued the Breslin's
because Percy bought out the bolts, so they are
now under the Percy name. I have Kooks on the
way and have been told that the Stage 8 would
have to be ground some. The Percy's wont be
in stock at Jegs or Summit until about April,
so will have to wait.

Spending money on Percy bolts is a drop in the
bucket when you consider the cost of Kooks/cats/y ...
... it's piece of mind.

I run Percy's gaskets and regular ARP stainless header bolts. I never have any issues.
