I wouldnt install it for a performance gain, but rather to get rid of the annoying vibration you receive with the stock steel peice. And like the above poster said, you wont notice any gains. Just a smoother ride at higher speeds

thats exactly why i did it, just because i wanted to cruise at 100 mph without a vibration is a good enough reason for me!

You would definitely notice the vibration. On my car it seemed to start around 75-80 mph. I'm going to replace my driveshaft. I just have to decide with what. I wish I would have been aware of the TSB back when it might have made a difference.

I too installed an aluminum driveshaft just to get rid of the vibration the stock DS had...it started at 75-80mph....and at higher speeds with the poly trans mount...it was unbarable.

I replaced mine before I installed the turbo and I thought I felt a slight difference, but it was probably the placebo effect. Anytime you reduce rotational mass there should be a slight performance gain of few HP. But I too, did it because of the vibration.

I've installed aluminum shafts on quite a few Fbodies over the years.
Increase in HP is minimal at the top end, but the reduced weight and lack of vibration at highway speeds is awesome.

I did it for the vibe issue as well. Didn't notice any performance gain. I wish I could say I did but I can't. I will say it felt like a new car at 80mph.
