The German Castrol is only available in 0W-30. I would run it year round and not worry about it. That's what I'm planning to run in my car whenever it's driveable. I run it in my Jeep. Check out bobistheoilguy.com. Those guys love the German Castrol. It's also supposedly closer to a 40 weight than a 30 weight. Another pretty good oil is Mobil 1 0W-40. I'm running that in my Jeep right now. But I haven't heard of any oil analysis done on that oil in the LT1.

IMO the M1 0w40 did not return good results in my LT1. I'm awaiting to put some more miles on my German Castrol OCIs before I send in an analysis.

The German Castrol is a GROUP IV, and is way better than the American Made 0w30.

PP 5w30. It has more oil pressure than my M1 0w40, kinda supprised by that.

The majority of those who have responded have ZERO actual data to support their recommendations. Do a search I have harped on this enough already. There is real measured data out there and a FEW of us have provided links to help you with your research.

Listening to what a bunch of kids bought based solely on marketing is NOT research, and is NOT a true measure of what works.

90k miles of Mobil 1 and my factory shortblock looked brand new inside.. bearings were in great shape.

Good enough factual data for me.

It's like this pops up every month or so, a search results in good stuff.

I only use German Castrol 0-30 all year round.

Here's good reading:
