o2 sensors should have nothing to do with cold start.

What places have you checked spark at? the coil, opti, plugs, etc?

no they dont have anything to do with sparking at all..

Who did you buy your distributor from?

And the cap as well..

If I were you,- and i know it sucks- I would just tear it back apart, and get a new opti and put it all back together....

where are you located at? depending on the location maybe someone could swing buy and possibly help you out...

I will check at work tomorrow and see if I can pull anything up on our GM bulletin's but i doubt i'll be able to pull up anything much for a 97..

Have you checked to see if your coil putting out spark, if you got the coil wire plugged in backwards like if the harness connector is broken itll plug in both ways and could have reverse polarity and no spark.

Had The Same Thing If Its Just Turning Over More Than Likly Controle Module They Can Test It For You To See If Its Bad At Most Auto Parts

Man, you guys are the greatest!! I'm gonna go pull the coil and ignition pack and take it to Advance Auto to have them tested there. Maybe the control module went bad or somethin'.

Yeah man, I've taking this thing apart so many times I can probably do it blind folded now. Now if I can just get some spark, I'll be set. I've got a WingsWest bodykit coming in tomorrow and I hope I can spend my time prepping and painting that instead of dicking with this problem.

- well, i know i told you i printed all that **** out, but got half way home in the freezing rain we are having and realized I left them in my toolbox. So if you dont get it fixed tomorrow I'll keep checking and try to post them then...

Hmm too few pulses.. ICM isnt getting enough signals from the hall effect in the opti?...

Thanks for the effort indirocz28. I'm leaning towards the Opti being ****. I got it from a company called All-Ignition online. It's a brand new GM unit but I guess that don't mean ****! Do you think that the code means that the ICM is not recieving the pulse from the Opti or does it mean the ICM isn't putting out enough of a signal to the coil and dist.? I'm thinking of ordering an aftermarket Opti from Summit. Is there an aftermarket one you guys would recommend the most?

Well, I'd have to be there to take a look at it. However, If you are going to buy an aftermarket, I would reccomend the Accel... it is cheaper than MSD and i've heard better things, but to each thier own..

If i had to guess, i would say that the ICM is not switching - there are three switching transistors inside that ICM, and if it is putting out to few signals, i'd say they arent switching- i would guess..

Well I got to the store too late and have to wait till tomorrow to get a new ICM. I live in Eastern N.C. and around here it's to get good help. Called around to a couple of places and they say they don't have a way to test the ICM.

All-ignition optis are not GM units. This has been discussed before on here and camaroz28. People have had a lot of issues with them.

Accel is also ****. Please do not buy that.

Either get the MSD or a new GM ac-delco.
