Need LT1 cam advice

Need LT1 cam advice

Been thinking of swapping an LT1 into my 91 RS. If I do it would be an A4 with 3.73 gears.

Any cam suggestions for a stock LT1 with bolt on's and SLP shortie 1 3/4 headers? I have to pass the sniffer test with the car so it will have to have cats and Carb legal headers. I will do tuning and basic stuff like CAI if I do the swap.

To have a good chance of passing emissions, I would go with moderate lift and an LSA of 114 or greater. This will avoid spitting out raw fuel like my comp cam does at idle (112 LSA, so I have overlap). It will also idle smoother than mine does.

Call comp cams's tech line. They are usually very cool and will give you better advice than I can.

Oh I don't know about that...I'd take my chances with your advice before theirs because...the two times I talked with Comp selecting my LS1 cam they insisted a cam with more than .540 lift could not physically fit in an LS1 engine...also say 300cfm was very poor flow for LS1 heads and the numbers should be much higher..

..the jerks I talked too were pretty much idiots.

stock tune and cats will easily pass emissions with a LT4 hot cam. Many people have yanked the entire emissions equipment including cats and still passed emissions with the stock tuning and stock cam. i have heard of only a few LT4 Hotcam cars that have passed with no airpump, EGR, or Cats, but with stock tuning.
