Default Can I delete torque arm?

I am getting ready to do a budget th400 conversion... anyways I was wondering If i can simply delete the torque arm? what will happen... would it be better to install some better control arms? or do they make a chassis mount for the torque arm???? if so where thanks!

if you have the fabrication skills, you could do an 8.8 with a 4 link conversion.

They would be extremely violent without a torque arm in place. The IC is way too far back. A better solution to this problem would be a BMR torque arm relocation set-up.

Why would you want to? Turbo 400, so I imagine its more of a street/strip car than a road racer. There are some 1.2 60 ft time torque arm cars out there, and quite possibly some quicker than that.

Take the simple, less expensive route and get a Spohn T/A which bolts to the tranny cross brace mount instead of the tranny.

"This system is a complete replacement of the stock suspension. It allows you to remove that bulky torque arm and replaces it with a double ladder bar conversion. This system not only allows you to transfer more torque directly to the tires but also gives you a suspension that actually works. The new suspension absorbs the bumps and vibration from the road and gives you the smoothest ride possible." (Taken from G-Force's web site)

That statement has to be one of the dumbest that I have ever read in regards to torque arm suspensions.

UMI makes a tunnel mounted torque arm. Its around 370$. I would just do that. I know your on a budget but this would be easy.

Spohn also makes a crossmember with a torque arm attachment that would work with you th400. May be an even better choice.

That g-force kit looks nice and i would mind giving that a try. What would be the cons you think from puting that on compared to how the car rides and drives right now?

I put a TH350 in my 94 Trans Am and I built a torque arm mount on the tranny using the mount off the 4L60e... Wish I had taken pictures of it...

Why would he want to???? Cause he wants to remove the torque arm cause it's the reason cars don't hook..... Everybody knows that torque arm cars will never be able to hook at the track... Guys with torque arms are destined to be stuck in the 13's.....
