Default engine removal question

I have been told by a local F-body guy that to remove the LT1engine from my 96 TA I must take it out the bottom with the transmission, because the tranny bolds are next to impossible to get to. I have had to do this on a car before, but didn't think my TA would be like that. Is this true? and if so how the $*%# am I gonna do my cam swap without a hoist. Please tell me i can pull the motor out the top with a cherry picker. lol!

You can pull it out the top, but it's a pain.
I find the bottom much easier and it can be done without a hoist.

Both can be done in the car, and I would pay to see you do LT's with the motor out then put it back in from the top

Do your homework and read up, use the search feature.

You don't HAVE to, but it sure will make your life easier.
The time saved in fighting things you can't reach or see easily justifies the 2 hours it takes to drop
the motor out the bottom.
