Default 94Z not running right right ?

my son bought his car 2 months ago with 125k on it and has put about 2k mi on it now. sunday while doing about 40 mph the motor starts to stumble and pop. so as i drive it i realize the problem occurs at low rpm's, and there is a sweet spot in the pedal when this happens but under acceleration the car behaves fine. I did a overall check under the hood vac hoses fluids and wires but nothing looks out of place so what do you guys think?

thanks

Sounds similar to how mine acted when the o2 sensors went bad. Does it run better before it warms up or do it all the time?

it was driven 10mi parked 15min driven another 5min before the prob occurred. but we have not driven it because we have had 5 in of rain in the last 24 hrs. So i dont know if it occurs when cold i will drive it this afternoon. the cat is gutted on this car although i know the sensors can still go bad and if so wouldnt the check engine light come on? thats the thing it has not triggered a check engine light yet.

The engine light doesnt always come on for an o2 sensor, but if this is happening before its warmed up its not the o2.

Check TPS Sensor (Throttle Position Sensor) Do a sweep on the meter to see it it has a dead spot.

You could also have something going on with the ignition system such as oil saturated opti and wires.

if it starts and runs drive it to autozone or csk and have them scan it for codes. (free)
just because there is no ses light doesnt mean theres no codes.

optis usually dont get oil saturated...but the opti could have failed... wires could have got oil soaked and or melted. check your plugs and see how they are if they are fouled clean whatever...oh and also check the coolant temp sensors. if those go bad can cause it to run like poo.

I agree it does sound initially like it could be o2 sensors. and the check engine light does not come on for that if they fail around a normal value, only if they get stuck on a high or low value.

opti get WET from the waterpump... your such a ******* moron!
you dont know a god damn thing about the optis! you even said so in your ******* thread you started about the delteq system and the ltcc...
you dont know a ******* thing about cars! your a god damn ******* moron!
i know a LOT more about the vortech style engines than you do. im 19 years old a ******* high school drop out but i have been a mechanic for the last 7 years and have been on VACATION since september! yeah thats right VACATION not doing a ******* thing all winter long. i know about the intake gasket leak big deal so do a lot of people! but the main cause for opti failure is because

1. water pump leaking
2. rotor screws backing out
3. optical sensor part of the "opti" failing usually caused by #1
4. over time the spark jump from the rotor to the cap eats the terminals.
5. oil MIGHT accidentally possibly perhaps MAYBE get into the optical sensor!

and that stupid *** picture you posted says plug wires! not the opti you fucktard!
and maybe the "rookies" yeah us rookies...us people who are smarter than you are! you got owned in the last 2 threads you TRIED to show how "smart" you were. such a ******* n00b.

would you like pics of my ******* engine? my ******* car is apart right now! first thing in the morning i will take pics for you! and i never once said it does NOT get oil saturated...i said it USUALLY doesnt...more often then not the cause of opti failure is because of a waterpump leak. keep your fat ******* dumbass fingers to yourself! you dont know wtf your talking about! THE END! AGAIN!

thats the best insult you can come up with? i dropped out to work you ******* idiot. yeah thats right i quit school to work. big deal. diesel mechanics/body work! im going to otc this summer. for ecu/pcm and diagnostics. ive got more hands on experience with cars than you do with *****. trust me! i asked your sister...the only ***** youve had. i would have asked your mom...but shes also your sister you inbred hillbilly fuckwad. your mom should have swallowed your stupid ***... im sorry at 14 i was making more money in a summer then you were? yeah thats right at 14 years old i was making $25-30 an hour. wasnt working on cars...but i was working on bulldozers excavators and backhoes all summer long. thats y i can afford to be on vacation for 6 months of the year. not to mention my parents make 300k a year... my vacation is all paid too i take care of their house. in the winter (idaho) then in the spring i move back to missouri. so when you graduate from middle school give me a call i might teach you wtf your doing with cars.

and for someone thats so smart...you would think you would know that its an urban legend you go blind from jerking your rope.
or in your case tweezing your jellybean! you sir are completely clueless about life. AND cars! IF and thats a VERY big IF you are a mechanic your a shitty one!
