10K Budget 1996 Z-28 Camaro
-rebuild your motor for a boosted application (right cam, forged internals, port your head and intake) (2.5k)
-buy a supercharger (3-5k depending on used/new)
-rebuild your tranny to handle the power (1k)
-buy a new rear end to handle it (2.3k)
-get it tuned (the rest of the budget)
-maybe some drag radials if you have any money left.
make 500+ rwhp and have a ball!
Today I picked up another Nitrous kit with 50 and 75 jets. Yes I am going to need 2 stages.
Went and paid off another loan and that leaves me about $5,800.00
All I pay a month on this 10k loan is $328.00 and it will be paid off in 36 months.
Yes I do try and do my own work myself and I am blessed to have a father who is a grease monkey and a lot of his friends are. I'm gonna try building my th350 myself and if I screw up the good thing is I have another one.
As for the rear end I'd most def. say I'm going with a 9" inch rear, but I'm gonna abuse the hell out of that little 10 bolt first seeing how I rebuilt it recently and put 4.10/4.11 gears in it.
And as good as my credit is and I really feel I need more money, I'll just go borrow more.
But in all honesty, this should be a really nice build when you get it all done, with pictures and what not. Last edited by Speed Density; Apr 1, 2008 at 09:00 PM.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Jesus motor! hahaha thats great. lmao
But those are not always for everyone. If I'm ever gonna do something like this NOW IS THE TIME! I'm young, live at home, have a pretty good income with no danger of my job ever going out business, and I have the will to learn and to do this.
GUYS GUYS ITS OKAY IF SOMEONE SAYS I'M WRONG FOR BUILDING THIS INSTEAD OF A LS1 OR FORD FESTIVIA, OPINIONS ARE OPINIONS AND NOTHING MORE. FOR THE GUYS SUPPORTING THIS IDEA, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. IT'S FINE FOR PEOPLE TO POST THERE OPINIONS BECAUSE IT HONESTLY DON'T BOTHER ME..................I MEAN IT IS JUST THE INTERNET.
Yeah I will be posting pics of my stuff as they come in so please feel free to check back on this thread and comment. Ya'll have a good day.

I always wanted to build this car just because the first thing I hear is,"Why don't you get an LS1 or just older Small Block?" Because I want to be different and everyone doubts these cars so much.
Yes I am 19, turning 20 on the April 5th, and yes I am single at the moment and I have about 300 dollars worth of bills every month, then throw 328 loan payment on top of that and I'm bringing home over $1,100.00 So yeah I better enjoy being able to do things of this nature while I can cuz I can understand the fact it don't last forever and I'm very fortunate being able to do something like this.
Thanks for ya'lls comments!
Oh and before I forget I promise pictures so here is two:

+1 for you brother. You know your money better than anybody on these boards so if you can afford to do it that way rather than try and nit pick at it for the next 3 years, by all means, go for it. And another +1 for taking part of the money and paying off another note you had THEN using the balance to work on the LT. The only advice I can give is to first set a goal for the car, ie 11 sec street car, 12 sec weekend warrior. Then make sure that's all you'll ever want out of the car. Then research every part your'e thinking about adding to make sure the combination is right. It's real easy to just start jamming new parts in there but if they don't work well together, you'll be disappointed in the results or lack thereof. Leave enough money in the end for suspension mods also. One of the few things most guys on here will agree on is getting the power down so have a number in mind (1/4 mile times), how much street use the car will see and labor charges. Don't forget to leave miscellaneous money in there for nick nacks like plugs, wires, oil, blah blah blah. Keep us posted on the progress lil daddy and good luck
