this is my opinion.... have the engine pulled out and if its not a 4 bolt have the block splaid...sp and have the heads ported and polished...... call thunder racing or any place that specializes in GM efi cars and get one their latest and greatest cams for what you are wanting out of the car....... then purchase a used moser or stranger 12 bolt.....keep it GM! i would also say look for a decent price vortech S trim blower combo unless you want to refill nitrous bottles every 5 seconds...... the S trim blower can produce around 680hp at the flywheel which is plenty fast..... or if you want nitrous then get nitrous....or hell build yourself a bad *** stroker motor...... i would use eagle crank and H beam rods and either SRP pistons if you are getting low on money or JEs if you have plenty left over....... the SRP pistons are good for anything under 700hp all day long cause i have used them at that level and they still look fine...... buy a spohn, or bmi tubular k member and A arms and it will save you alot of weight and also make things easy for plug changes...... also look into a built T350/T400 tranny with a yank 3,500ish stall and a tranny brake! there is much more you can do but let me know id you want any more of my opinions in a PM..... jake

I'm just gonna keep running my motor with all my new goodies for time being until the new one is complete. I'm gonna stick on motor with spray because I have seen a setup like what I want work before and kick some ***. Someday I may change my mind, but I've been wanting to do this forever it seems and so it will be done.

Appreciate the suggestions, don't think for a minute they are being ignored by no means. A lot of people I'm friends with that have LT1 cars get on here and read this stuff and not only are you giving me ideas, but you are also giving them ideas.

Here is some pics today of some more goodies I got:

Bringing the pieces to the puzzle together slowly, but surely.

Well the spark plugs I took back because I didn't do my homework on Nitrous & Spark Plug Combo so my new NGK TR6 will be here tomorrow.

And the UPS guy decided to give me these today!

B&M 3500 Stall and Powerglide with Trans Brake. If I don't like this setup it won't be to hard to sell.

I bought a manifold from a member which was ported, came with Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator, Nitrous Express Direct Port Kit, and had the A.I.R. and E.G.R. blocked off, but I figured no point in posting that until I can take a picture of it when it arrives.

full bolt ons, heads, cam. also i would say pick up a moser 9" or 12 bolt and toss that 10 bolt. you could also look into a good stall, that will make a world of difference.

Kinda hard to believe you would cut a sixty foot time like that with those mods and ring/pinion ratio?

1.75-1.80 60' times? I can show ya timeslips from last season. How's your car coming along? I think you did the right thing borrowing the money. No different than taking out a loan to buy a motorcycle or 4 wheeler. By the time you'd save 10K prices would be up and you'd have to wait longer. I know a guy that borrows 20K to build a circle track car and pays the loan off with his winnings.

Well it has been a long *** time since I have posted anything in this thread, but here is what has been going on.

I have bought like 10 million random nitrous parts and acc. and they have already paid themselves off, paid for my Nitrous Express Direct Port Kit, Ported Manifold, Aeromotive Adj. Fuel Pressure Regulator and I still have plenty of "Nitrous Junk" to spare.

I sold my black 1996 Camaro and got some $$$$$ and a 1993 Speed Density Bird and I got a beat all to **** 1996 3.8 Camaro, which we have been abusing with spray for the hell of it while we are still gathering parts for the build.

The game plan is to swap all the goodies from the bird into the Camaro and visa-versa and the Firebird is already sold and I'm getting to keep the 10 bolt from it and the rear brakes (which is what I wanted the most) the motor, k-member, harness, computer, and a few more little goodies and did I mention the tranny is busted in the Firebird?

Why did I buy this beat up blue Camaro you may ask? Because it's good "fishing bait" for around here lol!

At the moment the current project is putting a 4efte aka 1.3 Turbo motor in my Tercel since the 1.5 that was in it has seen better days and I need a gas saver. It may be slow, but hearing a blow off valve and getting 36+ miles to the gallon sounds like a good deal to me.

That's all for now folks!

I would just do a nice turbo setup, with a built bottom end and be done with all of it

That would have been the plan if the bank allowed me more money, but that didn't happen so I am happy with what I have.

Taking out a 10K loan to put into a car isnt a good idea ever, you suppose to budget your self...Or if you have the money at hand then do it...

Im never a fan of taking out loans for such things, its just not smart
i think the point was it was cheaper for that LT1 bolt on than it is for that LS1 bolt on. with the 10k he would be spending that solely on the car, now what money does he have to mod it? none unless he sells his LT1 and uses that. personally i'd take the car he already has and spend the 10k on it. and in this case im thinking the LT1 would be alot faster with the 10k into it rather than buying the LS1 and maybe spending 4-6k on it depending on how much he could sell his LT1 for.

Well figured I'd update this a little bit.

I'm almost done on my 4efte conversion on my Tercel so that means I will have a cheap on fuel daily driver again and I can begin swapping all my "drag junk" into my 1996 3.8 Camaro and I'm just using the motor and some other little things from the 1993 Speed Density Firebird I got.

I've really been debating on going carbureted/standard distributor or staying fuel injected/opti-spark and I'm really leaning towards a carb just for the ease of tuning the car and I don't have the skills to do any fuel injection tuning nor can I offered to run out and buy a laptop and the software to tune it with.

Any who as this build goes on, this thread will be updated.

And whoever said get a LS1, thanks for the 2 cents, but I like a LT motors.
