I know summit sells a gasket kit for the lt1, for like 320 bucks. Thats for a complete engine kit. When I changed my cam I bought the individual gaskets I needed from a chevy dealer.

From my recollection (not a LT1 mind you) a standard full 350 gasket kit only runs around $120 from your local parts store, and that's Fel-Pro with the 1 piece rubber oil pan gasket.
Don't go and get raped by summit.

Just curroious,
You think summit is a rip? I'm totaly out of the loop as far as competitive parts priceing. Where I live either you order parts or you order other parts. Where do you get your parts from?

Thunder Racing also sells different kits that are put together using FelPro gaskets. They have one for "water pump install" head/cam Install and what not. They are reasonably priced and also sell all the gaskets individually. You will probably also need head gaskets, those come seperate most of the time...

well what I really need are timing cover gasket, crankshaft seal, optispark seal, water pump driveshaft seal, and water pump gaskets, and maybe an oil pan gasket if I'm careful I wont need an oil pan gasket. Really those are the only gaskets and seals I need right now. I found a kit on ebay with all those gaskets and seals but its an ebay store and they have no quantity left! If I bought them individually from a gm dealer anyone know what kinda price I'm looking at.

The felpro head gaskets are too thick unless the block is zero decked then they are OK.
I would sooner recommend Victo Rienz 5898 head gaskets at .026 for most builds with the piston at least .010 down which stock is way more. NAPA used to carry them but I think CarQuest is now the distributor.
Stock head gasket is .049 for the aluminum head cars, .029 for the iron head LT1s(another alternative), like I said Felpro are thick .039 only reason to run one that thick would be zero decked or even a LITTLE out of the hole with the piston.
I did not look up any valvecover gaskets because I have never replaced them, stockers are awesome.
Don't get me wrong Felpro is a good gasket, just their head gasket is thicker than what most of us should be looking at to up compression.

Caprice, if Fel-Pro's is "thick" @ .039, then what do you consider stock @ .049? I would consider the Fel-Pro to be moderate, but the B-Body (Iron Head) gasket to be a better option (if conditions are right, or for a stock car).
