Default Is there a best CAI?

Buying another LT1 tommorow and it still has the stock airbox. My guess is that an intake is an intake, and no specific brand is going to give you noticibly more power than another. Am i wrong? Should i just go as cheap as possible? Metal or plastic tubing? What do you guys reccommend? SLP, Morso, K&N or what? Thanks

Any of the main brand CAI should give the same gains.Stay away from the cheap ebay kits. They are junk.I have installed both a k&n intake and a moroso intake within the past month. Both of their fit and finish was great. The only difference in the install is for the moroso CAI you have to drill two new holes.I would just get whatever one is cheaper.

I've heard that they all offer about the same gains. I can't vouch for any of the name brands though as I went with an ebay CAI and a Vortech style elbow. Works great for me. Get which ever one is cheaper I guess.

Either Moroso or K&N. They both look good to me.

I've seen people post issues about vacuum at WOT with h/c setups, and I don't have any of those issues with my lingenfelter CAI so thats what gets my vote.

Avoid eBay and Home Depot intakes. They generally look about as bad as they perform.
K&N, SLP and Moroso all makes nice CAIs.

I got Moroso, and I run it without drilling the two holes. It's there to keep it stable, but I've had no problems in the 7 years I've had it on the car.

I am in the market for one and have decided on an LS1 lid. Just need to figure out where and what i need to get. I had a SLP on my 96 and that was a great unitl, although it was made of metal and could possibly soak heat more than the plastic. I don't think that it matterd any since the air didn't spend much time in it to exchange heat anyways...

I'd stay away from the SLP one as it's made from Coated stainless steel and becomes a nice lil heat trap after a lil bit of run time...I've actually had the CAI tube read right at 100* at the track....

Has anybody ever made their own, custom cold air kit, using like 3.5" or 4" tubing from the MAF to the filter?
