Actually I would beg to differ, why call something bright and dark? There was actually a "Bright Teal Metallic" code 37 and a "Mystic Teal Metallic" code 79 for the 1996 year. I think he has the Mystic since it is darker.

It may not sound right, and the words may seem to contradict, but that is the name of it. (If you like, I could pull my window sticker from my files tomorrow just to verify)
Chevy had on its full size trucks a color called "Bright Teal Metallic" during the same time period (I think it was code 38). It was this same color, just not as dark.
Only the codes really matter, anyway. Pontiac and Chevy call the same color by two different names . So, I think as long as you know it is some sort of Teal Metallic, you should good to go.
I don't know what you are looking for on the door jamb. You won't find the color name anywhere on the car. You will find the paint code on your RPO sticker, which is in the glove box.
